and suddenly Peter Thiel’s whole thing about dominating a small market first made a lot more sense.
It makes a lot of sense from a customer acquisition point of view because as larger companies scale up and succeed less and less in tailoring their offer to small audiences there are people left behind who have unmet needs.
This market is too small for those bigger companies to chase after, so smaller start-ups have an opportunity to get in.
You cannot fulfil all your potential goals simultaneously. You need a ranking of all the ends you wish to pursue.

Because that small audience has a specific problem, EVEN IF the size of the market is small at first, it is ranked higher in the hierarchy of their needs and they are more willing to take action on it, therefore landing you customers.
